micro-cosmos
Traces of fingerprints during the design of ceramics tend to be erased during the process, yet they attest to the aura of a handmade work. In contrast, 3D softwares do not know imperfection and the process of construction gives rise to mathematically perfect forms.
Mapping a rough ceramic surface digitally,
but manually, is like forcing the software to do something it hates: an irregular shape. Using various analogue and digital tools to move from the physical to the digital, and then back to the physical, this series of objects questions the implication of the digital in the craft.
It is a world of micro irregularities that disturb the eyes, blurring the boundaries of digital and analogue and opening a dialogue between the object and what makes us human.
